The weather is unpredictable in the south. Many homeowners have screened-in porches, others have a sunroom or Florida room.  The heating and cooling of the latter two can be the difference between a usable living space year-round, and one that can only be utilized between seasons. With the installation of a  Mitsubishi Ductless Mini Split, there is comfort without compromise in your Florida room. If you are interested in the installation one of these wonderful systems in your home, you may have a few questions. We hope to answer a few of them today.

A Ductless Mini Split (DMS) is an HVAC unit, designed to deliver treated air into a space without the use of ducts. A DMS can replace: inefficient window systems, space heaters and electric base board heaters. Installation is a simple four step process, that can take place in one day as opposed to multiple days with a traditional HVAC unit. The inside unit is mounted on a wall and is connected to the outdoor unit by refrigerant lines and a few electrical connections.   There are three main components to a DMS: an indoor unit, outdoor unit and a remote controller.

Are you interested in improving the comfort level in an uncomfortably hot or cold room in an existing building? Because they don’t require ductwork, they’re the perfect heating and cooling systems for additions, a converted garage, detached building or sunroom. Many homeowners choose to install a DMS as it is easy to maintain, are ease of control, as well as being quiet and energy efficient. Monthly cleaning of the reusable air filter is required. If you smoke or have pets, you may need to clean the filter more often.  Due to the filters multistage filtration, it can drastically reduce: dust, pollen, allergens and other particles in the air. Semiannual cleaning of the cooling fins and fan wheel is also recommended.
